2018 - OUT!

Writer: strengthintheunquastrengthintheunqua

Hello everyone! So, I am currently typing this at 10:26pm on Sunday, December 30th. I was originally planning to post something different for my next post, but while I was laying in bed trying to go to sleep, I felt like I needed to type something different. And who knows, I might not end up posting this; but I felt like I needed to type it out anyways. Guess we will find out together if I post this or not. Let’s go ahead and get into the rest of the post, shall we?

Every night, to help me fall asleep, I listen to music on my phone. Music has always been a stress reliever for me...a detox, if you will. So it’s a great way to help me fall asleep. While I was tossing and turning, the song “give me faith” by Elevation Worship came on and I started singing quietly to it. The first three words to the song are, “I need you…”

Okay, honestly you need to go listen to the song for yourself if you haven’t heard it before. I will put the link to it at the end of this post so y’all can go listen to it. It is so good. It is a perfect song to help us enter into the new year. The bridge of the song says, “I may be weak, but Your spirit’s  strong in me. My flesh may fail, but my God, You never will.”. First of all, that is just a really good reminder for all of us. Second, oh my goodness! How on earth do we make it through any given day and not praise the only one who can never fail??? Like, I am so guilty of this it is not even funny! Why do I hardly ever remember that our God never fails? He NEVER EVER EVER fails. EVER!!! I know in my mind that He never fails, but I hardly ever live my life like He never fails. I am the one that continues to fail every second of every day and half of the time, I act like I am the one that never fails. Ha! That is a joke. I am a joke. We all are. Because all of us do it.

So back to the first verse, when it says, “I need you”, it carries on to say, “to soften my heart and break me apart. I need you to open my eyes to see that You're shaping my life.” 2018 was a pretty good year for me. I didn’t have anything majorly shake me down to my core, but the Lord did speak to me through some emotionally difficult times. Even though my year was pretty good, maybe yours was the toughest one yet. Maybe the Lord placed it on my heart to type this just so I could talk to you. I don’t know, but I knew I needed to write something.

We don’t have to go through a tragedy to see the Lord work greatly in us. Yes, it is after we have been broken that we tend to see God work the most. But you know why that is? It is because we are looking for Him more; looking to see when He is going to work His very affective magic and make our lives whole again. No, there is NOTHING wrong with that! But why don’t we look for Him when we’re doing okay? Ask Him, “Lord, let me see you today.” And that could be in your Bible reading, in someone at work, in the person in front of you at the coffee shop...my point is, ask God to show you Himself in the good too. Because HE IS GOOD! He will never fail to be good.

Let us start off this new year the right way. And I don’t mean add this to your new year resolution list that includes going to the gym more and eating less, getting organized, and spending less money. I mean actually making the spiritual effort to make God a priority this year instead of an afterthought. Don’t hate on me if that sounded too harsh...I was preaching to myself there too.

I don’t know about you, but I want this to be my year. My year of getting closer to God and seeing Him do amazing things in my life and helping me help others more in their life. Don’t you want that too? Along with all the other goals, of course. Because there is nothing bad about those things. I make a new year resolution list every year too and throw it out the window after we get into February; March if I’m lucky. But let’s do this together! Let’s ask God to help us see Him more, in the good, bad and ugly, and let’s encourage each other so that this can be everyone’s year.

I love you guys and I can’t wait to see what 2019 holds for all of us. Contact us if you want to be apart of this resolution. The more the better! Here is the link to “give me faith” for you to listen. Please go listen to it! It is a great song. ---- https://youtu.be/dNwt7LQiYck --- Happy New Year, everyone!
