Hello everyone! I hope you are having a nice cup of sweet tea that has made your heart happy today. Or coffee. For me, I have been loving my coffee lately. I’m drinking a cup of coffee right now, actually. It’s not hot anymore, but it’s still good. Anyways, whatever your favorite drink is, I hope it made you happy and made your day so much better.
Okay, so anyone that knows me pretty well, or honestly just knows me in general, knows that I love clothes, fashion, and shopping. I mean, it’s not like I love the high end brands that make you have to sell your arm and leg on the black market to buy just a belt. I personally love Target, TJ Maxx, Cato, Belk, and I’m not gonna lie, I even like Walmart. I’m a cheap person so I don’t spend a lot of money on clothes. I look for the deals. But I do love my clothes and my mom constantly has to remind me to stop spending money because I have enough clothes. But one of the things that I worry about when I am shopping is: “how does this make me look?”. And I don’t ask that question because I’m worried it is going to make me look fat or something. Okay, I do worry about that sometimes. I don’t want to look like a giant marshmallow or anything. But I ask the question because I want to know how covered up I am.
As I have mentioned before, I have grown up in a Christian household and I believe in modesty. I believe in covering yourself up and not revealing everything on your body unless it is to the person you are married to. I personally don’t enjoy short shorts, or low cut shirts, or crop tops, clothes that are see through, or dresses that show everything underneath when you bend over just a tad. I am not trying to show off everything the Lord gave me. I don’t enjoy it. I am not always insecure about my body, but when I am wearing something that I am constantly trying to keep people from seeing my goods, why am I gonna wear it in the first place?
A woman should not have to show everything off to try to get attention from a man. If a man wants you, he will respect you no matter what. A lot of men actually end up preferring girls who keep themselves covered. You know why? Because the guys have to work harder for the girl. Because they know the girl isn’t showing off her body to everyone. She knows her worth and knows that keeping herself covered is more attractive.
Now, I know that isn’t the case with every guy. I know guys are going to be looking at a girls body. Cause let’s be honest, us girls do it with guys too. No doubt about it. But a body isn’t everything. A girl needs to know her worth, and a guy will respect you more if you aren’t showing yourself off. Because even though he thinks he is getting a treat when you’re wearing the really low cut shirt and that push up bra while y’all are on a date, he isn’t the only one getting a treat. Every guy that is where you are, they are getting that treat too. They have eyes and they are checking you out also.
I am not saying that you have to wear a snowsuit every day so no one will look at your body. But you can wear a super cute outfit and still be modest. I am not the kind of person that freaks out every time my bra strap is showing on my shoulder. I try to keep it hidden as much as I can, but I don’t freak out about it. It’s one thing if it is your whole entire bra, it’s another thing if it is just the strap. Because every girl has to wear a bra. So you should be allowed to not worry about the strap. That is a whole different conversation so I won’t go any farther than that.
I hope all of this made sense to you and it helped encourage you. I want my body to be saved for my husband. And if I am giving little spoiler alerts out for the world to see, it won’t be anything special to share with my future husband. Anyways, I hope this helped for anyone who has been struggling with this topic. Your body is not the way to get a man. The right man will stay in your life for your personality and inner beauty. Not because you have a smoking hot body. You deserve a man that will love you and respect you for your love of Jesus and your beautiful personality that he cannot get enough of. Love y'all!
