Travel Packing List

Writer: strengthintheunquastrengthintheunqua

Do you like traveling? I LOVE to travel! If I could spend my life traveling, exploring new places, learning about new cultures, I would. But because life isn’t a fairytale and responsibilities are real, I only really travel once a year. But I always, always, always create a travel packing list before I go. I am a very organized person. I love organization and I actually don’t mind packing. I have a tendency of packing everything under the sun and overthink things. But normally if I stick to my list, I will have everything I need, and more.

- Clothes

→  Before you start packing your clothes, make sure you know what the weather will be like. You don’t have to have a day by day plan on the weather, but have a general idea of what it will be like. If it’s usually hot and sunny, obviously pack what you would wear during the summer.

→ If you can find out before you go, see if the location you will be staying at has a place you can do laundry. This will cut back on a bunch of clothes. That way you can pack less and reuse what you already have. Just bring some laundry detergent and you’re good! And if there isn’t a “laundry room”, bring some liquid laundry detergent and wash your clothes under hot water in a sink then just lay them out to dry.

→ Only bring shoes that you need! If you are going to be doing a lot of walking, obviously wear comfortable shoes, but something you know you will be okay with wearing all day. I will either wear tennis shoes or my chacos. And always bring a pair of shower shoes!!!! No matter how “clean” you think the shower is, always bring shower shoes!

- Toiletries

→ When you are traveling and putting toiletries in your carry on, make sure you have the right size to go through security. You can only carry liquids that are 3.4 fluid ounces or less. If it is any bigger than that, they will confiscate it.

→ Again, only bring the things you need. Really the only toiletries I use are: lotion, deodorant, perfume, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste and toothbrush. And of course a very minimum amount of makeup. And if you can find travel sizes of whatever toiletries you use, that would be the best bet.

- Electronics

→ I obviously have my phone with me at all times. I have my headphones for my phone, because apple wants us to pay as much as possible. And bring normal headphones for the plane, because you’re going to want to watch movies if they are available.

→ Some kind of camera. Everyone has cell phones, which obviously has a camera, but if you have a seperate camera, you don’t have to worry about running out of space on your phone. If you run out of space on your SD card for the camera, bring another SD card just in case.

→ Chargers!!! Do not forget chargers! Computer charger, phone charger, camera charger...whatever kind of electronic you bring, double and triple check before you leave home to make sure you have the chargers you need. I always bring two phone chargers with me, just in case I lose or break one. I keep one in my purse to use in the airport and on the plane, then keep the other one in my suitcase.

That is all my tips and tricks for right now for what to bring in a suitcase. I will probably be doing another post similar to this when it gets closer to my trip. I love travel and packing and organization. I am going to challenge myself this year to pack everything in a smaller suitcase, even though I’m going to be gone 5 ½ weeks. I took way too much with me last year and everyone picked on me (which i picked on myself so it was fine, lol) but I am challenging myself to bring as little as possible. I guess you could say I would not make a good minimalist, haha! Love you guys!
