My makeup routine

Writer: strengthintheunquastrengthintheunqua

Hello everyone! Okay, so I love makeup. If you know me at all, you know it’s something I have to pretty much have on. Not all the time. But because of my job and the professionalism of it, I have to wear makeup everyday. I don’t wear as much as I used to but I do love to play around with it - when I have time at least. I was actually asked to do a friend of mines makeup for her wedding that will be in May. I am BEYOND excited! Scared, but excited and honored nonetheless. But I want to share with y’all my makeup routine, my favorite drugstore makeup and the prices. I’m going to walk y’all through the order that I do it and the products I use. And I want y’all to know that all of these, except for one, are drugstore products. I don’t like spending a lot of money on makeup that I know I will run out of in a month and a half to two months. Anyways, let’s get into it!

Okay, I lied. Before we get into the makeup, I want to tell y’all what I have been using since October to clear my skin up. I never really struggled with acne until about a year and a half ago. It is called Curology. It has been a GAME CHANGER for me. You can ask any of my friends. I struggle with acne around my mouth and chin and ever since I started using Curology, it has cleared up and I very rarely get a zit. When I do get a zit, it will last for about two days and will go away. If you want to know more about that, please message me. I recommend it to anyone and I would love to tell you about my experience. Okay…now let’s get into the makeup.

Number 1 - Concealer - I have used a bunch of different kinds of concealer in the 7 to 8 years I’ve been wearing makeup. But the one I am using right now and LOVING is the Superstay Better Skin concealer by Maybelline New York. It cost $6.59 at walmart or target.

Number 2 - Foundation - I have tried a bunch of different foundations as well in my makeup years but the one I seem to always come back to is the Covergirl Clean Matte with BB Cream Foundation. I use the shade 510 fair in the winter and 520 light in the summer. It is such an easy foundation to use and looks airbrushed on my skin. I absolutely love that foundation. I would recommend it to anyone. It cost $6.94 at walmart or target. If I don’t use that foundation, I use the Covergirl BB Cream Tinted Moisturizer with concealer and it works pretty well. I use that if I don’t want as much coverage and a more natural look. It cost $5.59 at walmart or target.

Number 3 - Translucent powder - I have never been able to find a good powder that would stay pretty much all day and not give a flashback if a picture is taken with the flash. I am on probably my fourth or fifth container of this, but it is the Milani translucent powder. I use the shade 01 all year round. This one costs about $10 and the kind I use, I have only been able to find at walmart.

Number 4 - Contour and/or bronzer - my go to contour and/or bronzer right now is the Elf Bronzer Palette, color Deep Bronzer. I really only use one color from this palette just because it’s the only one that matches my skin tone. But it costs about $6 at walmart or target.

Number 5 - Brows - I didn’t start filling in my brows until about 2 years ago and for most of that time I used the elf brow pencil but the last several months I have been using the Wet N Wild ultimate-brow retractable brow pencil in the color ash brown or medium brown. It costs $2.99 at walmart or target.

Number 6 - Eyeshadow - I go in spurts where I’ll wear eyeshadow, but right now I am enjoying my Tartelette In Bloom palette. I got this palette in the gorgeous Macy’s in New York City back in December. It was more than I would normally pay for makeup, but I knew I would love the palette and I have never owned a really good eyeshadow palette before. So this was kind of like an investment but well worth it. It cost $39 and I got it in the makeup section in Macy’s but I think you can get it from Sephora.

Number 7 - Mascara - mascara is probably my favorite makeup product of all time. When I was first starting to use makeup, my mom would get me whatever kind of mascara she felt like getting. But then I discovered the most amazing drugstore mascara of all time. Maybelline New York Pumped Up! Colossal Volum’ Express. This is the most amazing mascara ever. It gives volume, length, fullness...everything you want in a mascara, this mascara gives. It costs about $5.73 at walmart or target.

So this is my makeup order and my current favorites. If you have any questions about any of these products or about curology, just message me and ask away. I would love to give you more information about any of these. But I will say, don’t think that you need makeup to look pretty. Makeup is something that is supposed to be fun and artistic. Makeup isn’t something that is supposed to make you a different person. If you didn’t read my post from last week, you should. It talks about how the outside isn’t what makes you beautiful. It’s what is on the inside that matters. You can have the most beautiful makeup talent ever, but if your heart isn’t beautiful, then everything you do on the outside is pointless. Love you guys!
